An introduction to New Zealand’s Government Regulatory Practice Initiative

Regulatory compliance affects every aspect of our lives from the water we drink and the appliances in our homes to the streets we drive along.

G-REG came together following the Productivity Commission’s report on Regulatory Institutions and Practices released in June 2014, which recognised the opportunity for even greater professionalisation among the regulatory workforce. It is founded on the principle that regulatory practitioners should have the opportunity to grow their professional capabilities, even at the highest level. The qualifications are one part of this.

The initiative and qualifications were developed to create a common language, share knowledge, and build the capability of regulators and their organisations, and to support the future of New Zealand. The qualifications have the added benefit of opening the door to more career opportunities for staff who undertake them.

The below video outlines the G-Reg Initiative, the benefits it provides and advice given to organisations considering undertaking the training.
