Literacy and Numeracy

Part of EarnLearn’s job is to provide support to apprentices with learning differences.

We also help employers support their employees who learn differently.

For Learners

Developing your literacy and numeracy skills will not only benefit you at work but also help you in many other everyday tasks.

Ask yourself these questions – do you want to:

  • Improve your writing skills for work or study?
  • Understand graphs, charts, and other visual information?
  • Perform measurements and calculations more effectively?
  • Speak to and understand others better at work?
  • Read complicated specifications or detailed instructions?
  • Gain a better understanding of tax or KiwiSaver works?
  • Learn effective study and exam techniques?

EarnLearn supports learners with all these areas, and more.

For Employers

Many New Zealanders don’t have the literacy or numeracy skills to fully engage in their jobs, at home, and in their communities. Some of these people may even be in your workplace.

Higher literacy and numeracy levels mean better communication with customers and colleagues, more efficient handling of tasks, and the confidence to contribute more to your business and New Zealand’s economy.

If you would like to strengthen the skills of your workforce in these areas, let us know. Email us at to find out how we can help.

We also provide support to employers who have employees with dyslexia. Our brochure, Dyslexia in the Workplace, provides useful strategies to help you support your dyslexic employees to thrive and succeed. Click here to download our brochure.
